The Pocono Mountain Volunteer Fire Company is 100% volunteer. Members attend weekly training sessions and respond to fire and emergency calls 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The fire company is made up of five different membership types:
Active Members respond to calls, training drills and meetings. They also run the fire company's only fund raising event the Pocono Mountain Carnival .
Intern (Junior) Members are young people (ages 16 to 18) who assist the active members at emergency calls and the Carnival. They also attend training programs to prepare them to become Active Members upon reaching the age of 18.
Associate Members attend meetings, assist with the Carnival and other non-firefighting activities.
